English Language Workshop: Camino El Pardo

From Madrid to El Pardo English Workshop

Are you coming to Madrid for a business conference or work? Join Camino English for this hiking and learning intensive workshop through the historic town of El Pardo.  We will be meeting at the fountain in the main plaza. As you exit the bus, cross the street and turn to your left. Walk up a little ways and you will see the plaza on your right.

Your English Learning Workshop begins at the fountain where you will be met by your Camino English representative.

How to get there

Take the 601 bus which you can get outside the Moncloa metro station at the end of  the yellow line 3. It will take you about 20 minutes to arrive at El Pardo. Once there, get off at the palace bus stop less than 100 yards from the Royal Palace of El Pardo.

History

The town of El Pardo is located at the mount of El Pardo which spreads out over 16,000 hectares of forest to the north of Madrid. As is generally known, Franco made the palace and El Pardo his home and headquarters during his 36 year-rule of Spain  (1939-75).

The home of the palace was originally built as a go-to place for the Royal hunters as far back as 1406. It was an alternative residence for the Kings of Spain until King Alfonso X11 died there in 1885.

If you enjoy History, these  make great talking points (While learning English of course).

Our Journey

From the fountain we will walk through the town to a path which overlooks the Manzanares River. We will continue to meander through 10 kilometers of beautiful countryside.

Half way through our walk we will stop for a Menu del Dia (expect to eat around1 pm). We will continue our workshop conversation (in English) over lunch. Don’t worry if you haven’t spoken in a long time. If there are enough students, groups will be divided by language level. You will receive correction and guidance along the way.

When you register, you will be asked about your hobbies and interests so that we can have plenty to talk about during the six hour class.

We can fill up our water bottles before heading back to our final part of  the workshop along the river with wild boar deer and birds. You may even see a swan!
